"iceberg-2" LLC.

Since its establishment in 2005, "Iceberg-2" LLC is Georgia’s largest producer of fish meal and fish oil in the fishing industry. Annually, within the quota determined by the license, we collect anchovies from the Black Sea, process them and produce fish meal and oil, which is exported, and on-demand also sold on the domestic market. Our factory has an ISO 22000 certificate and fully complies with European standards. All employees are insured by the company. (Health Insurance and Fatal Accident Compensation Package).

At the same time, we support the development of the Georgian fleet in Poti. Every year, before the beginning of the fishing season, our company finances Georgian seiner-owning firms. Seiner owners finance the repair of their seiners and appropriate fishing equipment.

The work is currently underway for the construction of a new combined fish feed processing plant. In 2022, the company, with the support of the state program „Produce in Georgia“ completed the construction of a 36-meter-long fishing vessel, equipped with modern fishing equipment, with a capacity of catching up to 300 tons of fish.

Our Products

Fish food produced by "Iceberg-2" LLC is characterised by high digestible protein content and rich in omega-3 fatty acids. The product has a high nutritional value. The animals, that have a supplement in the form of fish in their diet have a stronger immune system. Our company offers fish meal made from Black Sea anchovies. Black Sea anchovy is a small pelagic fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids and protein.

In Georgia, fish meal is produced from anchovies by wet pressing method). Quality control of products is carried out at all stages of production, the quality of raw materials and their transportation, the process of processing raw materials and storing products is controlled. The quality of the released products is checked in the high-tech laboratories of Georgia and Europe. Our enterprise meets all the international standards and received ISO22000 certificate, that includes the entire production chain - raw material extraction - receiving, transportation, production of products, storage and delivery to the buyer. 99% of the produced products are exported to different countries.

It should be noted, that the drying method and freshness of raw materials determines the quality of fish food. Processing of raw materials is an important step in maintaining freshness and the high quality of products. Considering the fishing methods in Georgia, the raw materials arrive in hygienic ice containers in a short time and are processed immediately.

Fish Meal

Fishmeal is recognized by nutritionists as a high-quality, very digestible feed ingredient that is favored for addition to the diet of most farm animals, especially fish and shrimp. Fish meal, coarsely ground powder made from the cooked flesh of fish is primarily used in animal feed—especially for poultry, swine, mink, farm-raised fish, and pets. Fishmeal carries large quantities of energy per unit weight and is an excellent source of protein, lipids (oils), minerals, and vitamins; there is very little carbohydrate in fishmeal. Fishmeal is a generic term for a nutrient-rich feed ingredient used primarily in diets for domestic animals, sometimes used as a high-quality organic fertilizer. „Iceberg-2“ fishmeal is made from wild-caught anchovies, containing high percentage of bones and oil and contains between 70% - 72% crude protein by weight. From a nutritional standpoint, fishmeal is the preferred animal protein supplement in the diets of farm animals and often the major source of protein in diets for fish and shrimp

Fish byproducts have been used historically to feed poultry, pigs, and other farmed fish. A primitive form of fishmeal is mentioned in „The Travels of Marco Polo“ at the beginning of the 14th century: "they accustom their cattle, cows, sheep, camels, and horses to feed upon dried fish, which being regularly served to them, they eat without any sign of dislike."

The high quality and concentration of essential nutrients, especially of well-balanced amino acids, essential fatty acids, and energy content makes fishmeal an indispensable ingredient in diets of most aquaculture species and many land - farm animals. Because of its nutrient content, high digestibility and palatability, fishmeal serves as the benchmark ingredient in aquaculture diets. Each year, we send our samples of feed for nutrient content to different laboratories of Georgia, France and Germany.

BENEFITS OF FISHMEAL INCORPORATED INTO ANIMAL DIETS:

• Addition of fishmeal to animal diets increases feed efficiency and growth through better food palatability, and enhances nutrient uptake, digestion, and absorption;

• The balanced amino acid composition of fishmeal complements and provides synergistic effects with other animal and vegetable proteins in the diet to promote fast growth and reduce feeding costs;

• Fishmeal of high quality provides a balanced amount of all essential amino acids, phospholipids, and fatty acids for optimum development, growth, and reproduction, especially of larvae and brood stock. The nutrients in fishmeal also aid in disease resistance by boosting and helping to maintain a healthy functional immune system;

• High-quality fishmeal also allows for formulation of nutrient-dense diets, which promote optimal growth;

• Incorporation of fishmeal into diets of aquatic animals helps to reduce pollution from the wastewater effluent by providing greater nutrient digestibility;

• The incorporation of high-quality fishmeal into feed imparts a 'natural or wholesome' characteristic to the final product, such as that provided by wild fish.

Fish Oil

Fish oil, fatty oil from the bodies of fishes, is used extensively in aquaculture diets for all species, providing specific fatty acids not available in other fats and oils. It is likewise a common ingredient in companion animal diets, especially for the feline species. Fish oil is used in the production of feed, industrial, pharmaceutical and nutraceutical uses such as manufacture of margarine, cooking oil, cosmetics, caulking compounds, paints, industrial coatings, lubricants, water repellents, soaps, and candles. It is also used in the tanning of leather, the manufacture of rubber, and the production of chemicals used for making synthetic wax. Anchovies is the chief sources of „Iceberg-2“ fish oil. Fish oils are high in unsaturated lipids.

Oil and water are pressed from cooked fish during the manufacture of fish meal and are separated by centrifuge.

BENEFITS OF FISH OIL:

• Used in the production of feed(fish, fo and animal);

• Pharmacoleugal use;

• Fish oil, a byproduct from fish processing, provides benefits similar to those of plant oils when used in the garden. The oil can help your plants remain healthy whether you need to combat pests or add nutrients to the soil (Insect control, Fish emulsions- fertilizers).
